This is the Acupoints section of CMD, which presents 400 or so channel and nonchannel points with location, classical location, local anatomy, indications, traditional indications, needling depth, stimulus, and point groups they belong to, and the meanings of their Chinese names. Links to the Dictionary table are provided.

    • Click Channel to access information in the Dictionary about the channel of interest.
    • Click on Acupoints to see a preview list of all the points on the channel. Just click on the one that interests you.

Searches

  • First, select Headword only or Headword and Text depending on whether you wish to search in the heading of an entry/article or through the heading and the text below it.
  • Then, in the search box, enter alphanumeric codes (e.g., LU-1), unaccented P墨ny墨n, simplified Chinese or traditional Chinese, or English (literal translation of the point name).
    Note that joined-up P墨ny墨n can be used to search for headwords, but not the whole text.
  • After entering your search word(s), you will see the Search Results appear. You can select
    • Starting with to give you headwords that start with your search string or
    • Containing to give headwords that contain (or the text of which contains) your search string.
  • A filter box below Results allows you to insert another search string to narrow your search. So, for example, if your search string is blood vacuity, you can add headache in the filter box. To find all acupoints in which blood vacuity and headache both appear, either in the headword or headword and text, depending on which selection you have made.

  • The texts include copious links to the Dictionary table.
  • For those studying Chinese, each character of the Chinese headword is linked to the Terms table, where examples of its use can be found, together with links to stroke order animations.

KL, Foot Lesser Y墨n (sh脿o y墨n) Kidney Channel Points

  • KI-1 娑屾硥 銆旀恭娉夈晊菕ng qu谩n, Gushing Spring
    Modern location: On the inferior aspect of the foot, on a line drawn along the length of the foot roughly midway between the big and little toes, slightly posterior to the ball of the foot (about one third of the distance from the base of the toes to the posterior aspect of the heel).
    Modern indications: Headache; clouded head; insomnia; dizzy vision; painful swollen throat; loss of voice; constipation; inhibited urination; child fright wind; mania and withdrawal; clouding reversal.
  • KI-2 鐒惰胺 銆旂劧璋枫時谩n g菙, Blazing Valley
    Modern location: On the medial aspect of the foot, in the depression inferior to the tuberosity of the navicular bone.
    Modern indications: Menstrual irregularities; seminal emission; dispersion-thirst; diarrhea: coughing of blood; painful swollen throat; inhibited urination; umbilical wind; clenched jaw.
  • KI-3 澶邯 銆斿お璋裤晅脿i x墨, Great Ravine
    Modern location: At the ankle joint, midway between the medial malleolus and the Achilles tendon (t. calcaneus), level with the tip of the malleolus.
    Modern indications: Menstrual irregularities; seminal emission; impotence; frequent urination; constipation; dispersion-thirst; coughing of blood; panting; painful swollen throat; toothache; insomnia; lumbar pain; deafness; tinnitus.
  • KI-4 澶ч挓 銆斿ぇ閻樸昫脿 zh艒ng, Large Goblet
    Modern location: On the medial aspect of the heel, in the angle formed by the anterior edge of the Achilles tendon (t. calcaneus) and the superior edge of the calcaneum.
    Modern indications: Dribbling urinary block; enuresis; constipation; coughing of blood; panting; feeble-mindedness; heel pain.
  • KI-5 姘存硥 銆旀按娉夈晄hu菒 qu谩n, Water Spring
    Modern location: On the medial aspect of the heel, in the concavity of the calcaneum, about 1 c霉n straight below KI-3.
    Modern indications: Menstrual irregularities; menstrual pain; amenorrhea; y墨n protrusion (prolapse of the uterus); inhibited urination.
  • KI-6 鐓ф捣 銆旂収娴枫晍h脿o h菐i, Shining Sea
    Modern location: On the medial aspect of the foot, about 1 c霉n inferior to the lower border of the medial malleolus, inferior to the tibialis posterior tendon.
    Modern indications: Menstrual irregularities; vaginal discharge; y墨n protrusion (prolapse of the uterus); frequent urination; dribbling urinary block; constipation; painful dry throat; epilepsy; insomnia.
  • KI-7 澶嶆簻 銆斿京婧溿昮霉 li奴, Recover Flow
    Modern location: On the medial aspect of the lower leg, 2 c霉n superior to the tip of the medial malleolus, adjacent to the anterior border of the Achilles tendon (t. calcaneus).
    Modern indications: Water swelling; abdominal distension; diarrhea; night sweating; febrile disease with absence of sweating; wilting-impediment (w臎i b矛) of the lower limbs.
  • KI-8 浜や俊 銆斾氦淇°昷i膩o x矛n, Intersection Reach
    Modern location: On the medial aspect of the lower leg, 2 c霉n superior to the medial malleolus, adjacent to the posterior border of the tibia.
    Modern indications: Menstrual irregularities; flooding and spotting; y墨n protrusion (prolapse of the uterus); mounting q矛 (sh脿n q矛, inguinal hernia); diarrhea; constipation; painful swelling of the testicles.
  • KI-9 绛戝 銆旂瘔璩撱晍h煤 b墨n, Guest House
    Modern location: On the medial aspect of the lower leg, 5 c霉n superior to the medial malleolus, just inferior to the contour of the lower border of the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle on the line connecting KI-3 (t脿i x墨) and KI-10 (y墨n g菙).
    Modern indications: Mania and withdrawal; mounting q矛 (sh脿n q矛, inguinal hernia); vomiting and retching; lower leg pain.
  • KI-10 闃磋胺 銆旈櫚璋枫晊墨n g菙, Y墨n Valley
    Modern location: On the posterior aspect of the knee, at the medial end of the popliteal crease, between the tendons of the semitendinosus and semimembranosus muscles.
    Modern indications: Impotence; mounting q矛 (sh脿n q矛, inguinal hernia); flooding and spotting; inhibited urination; aching pain in the knee and back of the knees (popliteal fossa).
  • KI-11 妯 銆旀┇楠ㄣ昲茅ng g菙, Pubic Bone
    Modern location: On the smaller abdomen, 5 c霉n inferior to the umbilicus, at the superior border of the pubic bone, 0.5 c霉n lateral to the midline.
    Modern indications: Distension and pain in the lesser abdomen; inhibited urination; enuresis; seminal emission; impotence; mounting q矛 (sh脿n q矛, inguinal hernia).
  • KI-14 鍥涙弧 銆斿洓婊裤晄矛 m菐n, Fourfold Fullness
    Modern location: On the smaller abdomen, 2 c霉n inferior to the umbilicus and 0.5 c霉n lateral to the midline.
    Modern indications: Menstrual irregularities; vaginal discharge; enuresis; seminal emission; mounting q矛 (sh脿n q矛, inguinal hernia): constipation; abdominal pain; water swelling.
