KI-5 Water Spring
水泉 〔水泉〕 shuǐ quán
Channel: KI, foot lesser yīn (shào yīn) kidney channel
Modern location: An acupoint located on the medial aspect of the heel, in the concavity of the calcaneum, about 1 cùn straight below KI-3.
Classical location: One cùn below Great Ravine (KI-3), below the inner anklebone. From

Action: Regulates the menses; courses the lower burner.
Modern indications: Menstrual irregularities; menstrual pain; amenorrhea; yīn protrusion (prolapse of the uterus); inhibited urination.
Classical indications: Absence of menstruation; oppression and pain below the heart; dribbling urination; nearsightedness; abdominal pain.
Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.4 cùn oblique or perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 5 cones; pole 5‒10 min.
Point groups: Cleft point (xī xué) of the kidney channel.
