KI-11 Pubic Bone

横骨 〔橫骨〕héng gǔ

Alternate names: 曲骨 qū gǔ, Curved Bone; 曲骨端 qū gǔ duān, Crooked Bone's End; 曲骨端 qū gǔ duān, Curved Bone's End; 屈骨 qū gǔ, Crooked Bone; 屈骨端 qū gǔ duān, Crooked Bone's End; 下极 xià jí, Lower Extreme

Channel: KI, Foot Lesser Yīn (shào yīn) Kidney Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the smaller abdomen, 5 cùn inferior to the umbilicus, at the superior border of the pubic bone, 0.5 cùn lateral to the midline.

Classic location: One cùn below Great Manifestation (KI-12), on the bone, one cùn either side of the midline of the abdomen, in the depression shaped like an upturned moon. (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)

Local anatomy: The inferior epigastric artery and external pudendal artery. The branch of the iliohypogastric nerve.

Action: Boosts the stomach and disinhibits dampness.

Modern indications: Distension and pain in the lesser abdomen; inhibited urination; enuresis; seminal emission; impotence; mounting qì (shàn qì, inguinal hernia).

Classic indications: Abdominal distension; smaller abdominal pain; prolapse of the rectum persisting for years; painful protraction of the genitals; enuresis; the five stranguries; swelling of the lower extremities.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.3‒0.8 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 3‒5 cones; pole 10‒30 min.

Point groups: Intersection point (jiāo huì xué) of the kidney channel and thoroughfare vessel.
