筑宾 〔築賓〕zhú bīn

Alternate names: 腨肠 chuǎi cháng, Calf Intestine; 腿肚 tuǐ dù, Leg Belly

Channel: KI, Foot Lesser Yīn (shào yīn) Kidney Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the medial aspect of the lower leg, 5 cùn superior to the medial malleolus, just inferior to the contour of the lower border of the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle on the line connecting KI-3 (tài xī) and KI-10 (yīn gǔ).

Classic location: [To locate the point] move upward and outward from Intersection Reach (KI-8), passing Three Yīn Intersection (SP-6), up into the belly of the calf. (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)

Local anatomy: At the deep level, the posterior tibial artery and vein. The medial sural cutaneous nerve and medial crural cutaneous nerve; deeper, the tibial nerve.

Action: Clears the heart and transforms phlegm; calms fright and quiets the spirit; resolves toxin and relieves pain.

Modern indications: Mania and withdrawal; mounting qì (shàn qì, inguinal hernia); retching and vomiting; lower leg pain.

Classic indications: Infantile uterus-related mounting (shàn); mounting (shàn) pain.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.5‒0.8 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 3 cones; pole 5‒20 min.

Point groups: Cleft point (xī xué) of the yīn linking vessel (yīn wéi mài).
