Blood stasis infertility

血瘀不孕 〔血瘀不孕〕xuè yū bù yùn

Infertility due to blockage of the thoroughfare (chōng) and controlling (rèn) vessels and the blood vessels of the uterus by static blood that arises when affect-mind internal damage causes inhibited movement of qì and blood, or when contraction of cold evil causes blood to congeal and prevents receptivity to male essence (semen). It is attended by delayed menstruation, inhibited menstrual flow, clotted flow, and abdominal pain exacerbated by pressure.

Patterns

Qì stagnation and blood stasis (气滞血瘀 qì zhì xuè yū) gives rise to infertility that, in addition to the above signs, is characterized by distension and fullness in the chest and rib-side, agitation, vexation, and irascibility, distending pain in the breasts.

Medicinal therapy: Quicken the blood, move stasis, and regulate menstruation. Use House of Blood Stasis-Expelling Decoction (血府逐瘀汤 xuè fǔ zhú yū tāng).

Cold evil settling in the uterus (寒邪客于胞中 hán xié kè yú bāo zhōng) gives rise to lack of warmth in the extremities and small-abdominal cold pain in addition to the general signs.

Medicinal therapy: Warm the channels and disperse cold. Use Lesser Abdomen Stasis-Expelling Decoction (少腹逐瘀汤 shào fù zhú yū tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, ST, SP, KI, and LR. Main points: CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), ST-30 (Qì Thoroughfare, 气冲 qì chōng), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), KI-14 (Fourfold Fullness, 四满 sì mǎn), LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), and SP-10 (Sea of Blood, 血海 xuè hǎi), and needle with even supplementation and drainage.
