Channel: HT, Hand Lesser Yīn (shào yīn) Heart Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the palmar aspect of the forearm, toward the ulnar end of the wrist crease, in the depression on the radial side of the flexor carpi ulnaris tendon.

Classic location: Behind the palm, in the depression at the end of the protuberant bone [i.e., at the head of the ulna]. (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)

Local anatomy: See HT-4.

Action: Quiets the heart and spirit; clears fire and cools provisioning; clears heart heat; regulates qì counterflow.

Modern indications: Heart pain; heart vexation; forgetfulness; fright palpitation; fearful throbbing; insomnia; yellowing of the eyes; mania and withdrawal; rib-side pain.

Classic indications: Dizziness; feeble-mindedness; epilepsy; retching of blood or vomiting of blood; visceral agitation (zàng zào); throat impediment (hóu bì); dryness of the throat with no desire to eat; panting and counterflow qì ascent; red facial complexion and tendency to laugh.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.3‒0.5 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 1‒3 cones; pole 10‒20 min.

Point groups: Stream (shù) (earth) and source point (yuán xué).
