Fearful throbbing
怔忡 〔怔忡〕 zhēng chōng
Severe heart palpitation that is not brought on by emotional stimulus. Fearful throbbing is so called because its severity itself causes alarm. See heart palpitation.
Etymology
Chinese: 怔 zhēng, fear, terror; 忡 chōng, anxiety, heavy-heartedness.
