House of Blood Stasis-Expelling Decoction
血府逐瘀汤 〔血府逐瘀湯〕xuè fǔ zhú yū tāng

Ingredients:
- Táo rén (桃仁 Persicae Semen, peach kernel) 6–12g
- Hóng huā (红花 Carthami Flos, carthamus [flower]) 3–9g
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica) 6–9g
- Shēng dì huáng (生地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Exsiccata seu Recens, dried/fresh rehmannia [root]) 6–9g
- Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome]) 3–9g
- Chì sháo (赤芍 Paeoniae Radix Rubra, red peony [root]) 6–9g
- Chái hú (柴胡 Bupleuri Radix, bupleurum [root]) 3–9g
- Zhǐ ké (qiào) (枳壳 Aurantii Fructus, bitter orange) 6–9g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 1.5–3g
- Jié gěng (桔梗 Platycodonis Radix, platycodon [root]) 3–4.5g
- Niú xī (牛膝 Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, achyranthes [root]) 9–12g
Action: Quickens the blood and rectifies qì; loosens the chest and relieves pain.
Indication: Collection of static blood causing stabbing pain in the chest and rib-side. Tongue: Bearing

- Acute pain due to
static blood obstruction: Add Dì lóng (地龙 Pheretima , earthworm) and Chuān shān jiǎ (穿山甲 Manis Squama, pangolin scales). - Severe
qì pain : Qīng pí (青皮 Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, unripe tangerine peel) and Xiāng fù (香附 Cyperi Rhizoma, cyperus [rhizome]). - Coronary heart disease characterized by
blood stasis andqì stagnation : Increase the Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome]) and Hóng huā (红花 Carthami Flos, carthamus [flower]), and add Dān shēn (丹参 Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix, salvia [root]).
