Category: Blood-rectifying formulas / Blood-quickening stasis-transforming formulas
Method: Decoct with water.
Rationale: Táo rén, Hóng huā, Chì sháo, and Chuān xiōng quicken the blood and dispel stasis. Shēng jiāng and Cōng bái are acrid dispersing and upbearing agents, which help the action of the agents to reach the head. Shè xiāng is a mobile and penetrating (shàn cuàn néng zǒu) aromatic agent that opens the orifices and frees the network vessels. Combined with Táo rén and Hóng huā, it helps to treat headache and dizziness due to stasis blockage in the head and face. Yellow wine with Dà zǎo helps to promote blood flow and make the action of the agent reach the head.
