1.Clouding reversal (clouding of consciousness and cold limbs) due to blood loss (blood desertion) or to sudden violent anger causing qì to move counterflow and blood to become depressed in the upper body.
Patterns
Blood desertion (血脱 xuè tuō) blood reversal is observed in severe flooding and spotting or blood ejectionand is characterized by sudden dizziness, bright-white facial complexion, reversal cold of the limbs, and a faint pulse on the verge of expiration.
Medicinal therapy: Boost qì and stem desertion with formulas such as Pure Ginseng Decoction (独参汤dú shēn tāng).
Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment on CV, GV, SP, and back transport points. Select CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), GV-26 (Water Trough, 水沟 shuǐ gōu), GV-25 (White Bone-Hole, 素髎 sù liáo), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), GV-20 (Hundred Convergences, 百会 bǎi huì), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), and KI-1 (Gushing Spring, 湧泉 yǒng quán) to stem vacuity desertion, combined with ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), and BL-21 (Stomach Transport, 胃俞 wèi shù) to supplement qì and contain the blood. Needle with supplementation and use large amounts of moxa.
Qì counterflow and blood depression (气逆血郁 qì nì xuè yù) blood reversal is characterized by sudden collapse with clenched jaw, unconsciousness, and green-blue or purple lips.
Medicinal therapy: Downbear counterflow and free stasis, using formulas such as Liver-Transforming Brew (化肝煎huà gān jiān) or Stasis-Freeing Brew (通瘀煎tōng yū jiān).
Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on PC, LR, SP, GV and Twelve Well Points (十二井穴shí èr jǐng xué); select PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), BL-18 (Liver Transport, 肝俞 gān shù), BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), SP-10 (Sea of Blood, 血海 xuè hǎi), and CV-17 (Chest Center, 膻中 shān zhōng) to downbear qì and free stasis, combined with GV-26 (Water Trough, 水沟 shuǐ gōu), Twelve Well Points (十二井穴shí èr jǐng xué), PC-8 (Palace of Toil, 劳宫 láo gōng) and LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ). Needle with drainage or prick to bleed. See reversal.

Select BL-15 (Heart Transport, 心俞 xīn shù), BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), and GV-20 (Hundred Convergences, 百会 bǎi huì); needle with supplementation and use moxa.
