Black Sallowwort Decoction
白薇汤 〔白薇湯〕 bái wēi tāng

Ingredients
- Bái wēi (白薇 Cynanchi Atrati Radix, black swallowwort) 9g
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica) 9g
- Sān qī (三七 Notoginseng Radix, notoginseng [root]) 3g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 3g
Indications: Depression veiling (郁冒 yù mào), a condition suddenly appearing in otherwise healthy patients characterized by a death-like state in which the patient does not move or speech, cannot open his eyes, cannot open his mouth to speak, and does not recognize people. In some cases, he may show slight recognition and perceive sounds dimly. This condition is sometimes equated with blood reversal.
Method: Decoct with water.
