GV-25 White Bone-Hole

Channel: GV, governing () vessel

Modern location: An acupoint located at the very tip of the nose.

Classical location: At the very tip of the nose. From The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (针灸大成 zhēn jiǔ dà chéng)

Local anatomy: The lateral nasal branches of the facial artery and vein. The external nasal branch of the anterior ethmoid nerve.

Action: Discharges heat and opens the orifices; returns yáng and stems counterflow.

Modern indications: Nasal congestion; nosebleed; clouded spirit; clouding reversal; suffocation in newborns.

Classical indications: Nasal polyps; copious snivel; nose sores; excessive tearing; nasal block with panting; acute child fright wind; tugging and slackening.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.1‒0.3 cùn upward oblique or perpendicular insertion.

Warning: Moxa contraindicated.
