Vacuity-taxation night sweating

虚劳盗汗 〔虛勞盜汗〕 xū láo dào hàn

Night sweating due to qì vacuity and yáng weakness, to heart yáng vacuity, to heart-kidney yáng vacuity, or to yīn blood vacuity.

Medicinal therapy: When due to qì vacuity and yáng weakness, it can be treated with Oyster Shell Powder (牡蛎散 mǔ lì sǎn) or Astragalus Center-Fortifying Decoction (黄芪建中汤 huáng qí jiàn zhōng tāng). When due to heart yáng vacuity, it can be treated with Arborvitae Seed Decoction (柏子仁汤 bǎi zǐ rén tāng). When due to dual vacuity of the heart and kidney, use Heart-Kidney Pill (心肾丸 xīn shèn wán). Alternatively, use Spleen-Returning Decoction (归脾汤 guī pí tāng) combined with Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill (六味地黄丸 liù wèi dì huáng wán), adding oyster shell (Ostreae Concha, 牡蛎 mǔ lì), light wheat (Tritici Fructus Levis, 浮小麦 fú xiǎo mài), and schisandra (Schisandrae Fructus, 五味子 wǔ wèi zǐ) if sweating is copious. Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on back transport points, KI, LI, and SI. Main points: LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), SI-3 (Back Ravine, 后溪 hòu xī), and HT-6 (Yīn Cleft, 阴郄 yīn xī).
