Category: Supplementing formulas / Yīn-yáng dual supplementation formulas

Method: Decoct with water.

Rationale: To fortify the spleen, qì must be boosted, and to nourish the heart, the blood must be supplemented. Huáng qí and Rén shēn boost qì and fortify the spleen, acting as the sovereign agents in the formula. Dāng guī and Lóng yǎn ròu supplement the blood and nourish the heart. These four agents invigorate the child and boost the mother (the heart is the mother of the spleen), and thereby treat the root. Fú líng, Yuǎn zhì, and Suān zǎo rén nourish the heart and quiet the spirit, thereby treating the tip. Bái zhú and Mù xiāng fortify the spleen and rectify qì, ensuring that the supplementing agents do not cause stagnation. Gān cǎo, Shēng jiāng, and Dà zǎo harmonize the stomach and spleen, helping it to engender qì and blood.
