HT-6 Yīn Cleft

阴郄 〔陰郄〕yīn xī

Alternate names: 少阴郄 shào yīn xī, Lesser Yin Bone-Hole; 石宫 shí gōng, Stone Palace

Channel: HT, Hand Lesser Yīn (shào yīn) Heart Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the palmar aspect of the forearm, 0.5 cùn proximal to the wrist crease, on the radial side of the flexor carpi ulnaris tendon.

Classic location: In the vessel behind the palm, five fēn from the wrist. (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)

Local anatomy: See HT-4.

Action: Clears heart fire; subdues vacuous yáng; quiets the spirit-mind; secures the exterior.

Modern indications: Heart pain; fright palpitation; steaming bone tidal heat; vomiting of blood (blood ejection); nosebleed; fulminant loss of voice; night sweating.

Classic indications: Dizziness; fright palpitation; nosebleed; throat impediment (hóu bì); infantile steaming bone heat effusion; loss of voice; fullness in the chest; fright reversal.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.3‒0.5 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 3 cones; pole 10‒20 min.

Point groups: Cleft point (xī xué) of the heart channel.
