Kidney vacuity seminal emission

肾虚遗精 〔腎虛遺精〕 shèn xū yí jīng

Seminal emission due to kidney vacuity exacerbated by hyperactivity of heart yáng (noninteraction of the heart and kidney) due to excessive thought and preoccupation or by sexual intemperance.

Patterns

Hyperactivity of heart yáng and kidney yīn vacuity This pattern is mainly caused by excessive thought and preoccupation and is characterized by frequent seminal emission accompanied by dry mouth and tongue, red face and cheeks, and fatigue. In severe cases, the patient can suffer an emission as soon as he closes his eyesand may have several emissions in one night.

Medicinal therapy: Clear the heart and contain essence with formulas such as Heart-Supplementing Elixir (补心丹 bǔ xīn dān) or Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill (六味地黄丸 liù wèi dì huáng wán).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on back transport points, KI, SP, HT, and PC. Needle with supplementation at BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo) with drainage at BL-15 (Heart Transport, 心俞 xīn shù), HT-7 (Spirit Gate, 神门 shén mén), PC-8 (Palace of Toil, 劳宫 láo gōng), KI-6 (Shining Sea, 照海 zhào hǎi), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), and PC-7 (Great Mound, 大陵 dà líng).

Point selection according to signs: For insomnia, add Alert Spirit Quartet (四神聪 sì shén cōng) and Insomnia (失眠 shī mián). For profuse dreaming, add GB-44 (Foot Orifice Yīn, 足窍阴 zú qiào yīn) and ST-45 (Severe Mouth, 厉兑 lì duì).

Depletion of kidney essence and stirring of the ministerial fire The signs are weak wilting lumbus and legs, aching pain in the bones, night heat effusion and spontaneous sweating, frequent erection, frequent seminal emission, red tongue and rapid fine pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Enrich yīn and downbear fire; replenish essence with medicinals of strong flavor. Use astringent yīn-nourishing medicinals such as cooked rehmannia (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, 熟地黄 shú dì huáng), swim bladder (Piscis Vesica Aeris, 鱼鳔 yú biào), lycium berry (Lycii Fructus, 枸杞子 gǒu qǐ zǐ), goat’s kidney (Caprae seu Ovis Renes, 羊肾 yáng shèn), pig’s spine marrow (Suis Spinae Medulla, 猪脊髓 zhū jǐ suǐ), and schisandra (Schisandrae Fructus, 五味子 wǔ wèi zǐ).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, KI, and back transport points. Needle with supplementation at CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), BL-52 (Will Chamber, 志室 zhì shì), and KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), and with drainage at KI-6 (Shining Sea, 照海 zhào hǎi), KI-1 (Gushing Spring, 湧泉 yǒng quán), and HT-8 (Lesser Mansion, 少府 shào fǔ).

Exhaustion of the lower origin from sexual intemperance This is characterized by seminal efflux, aching lumbus and limp legs, pale tongue, and fine sunken pulse, combined with kidney yáng vacuity signs such as fear of cold and cold limbs.

Medicinal therapy: It can be treated by dual supplementation of yīn and water and by warming and containing the life gate, using formulas such as Deerhorn Major Supplementation Decoction (鹿茸大补汤 lù róng dà bǔ tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, KI, GV, and back transport points. Select CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), GV-4 (Life Gate, 命门 mìng mén), KI-7 (Recover Flow, 复溜 fù liū), BL-52 (Will Chamber, 志室 zhì shì), KI-12 (Great Manifestation, 大赫 dà hè), and ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ); needle with supplementation and add moxa.
