PC-7 Great Mound

大陵 〔大陵〕dà líng

Alternate names: 鬼心 guǐ xīn, Ghost Heart; 手心主 shǒu xīn zhǔ, Hand Heart Governor; 主心 zhǔ xīn, Heart Governor

Channel: PC, Hand Reverting Yīn (jué yīn) Pericardium Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the palmar aspect of the forearm, at the wrist crease, between the tendons of the palmaris longus and the flexor carpi radialis muscles.

Classic location: In the depression between the two sinews behind the hand. (Zhēn Jiǔ Jiǎ Yǐ Jīng)

Local anatomy: The palmar arterial and venous network of the wrist. At the deeper level, the median nerve.

Action: Clears the heart and quiets the spirit; harmonizes the stomach and loosens the chest; clears provisioning and cools the blood.

Modern indications: Heart pain; heart palpitation; stomach pain; retching and vomiting; mania and withdrawal; chest and rib-side pain; sores.

Classic indications: Vomiting of blood (blood ejection); pain in the root of the tongue; heat in the palms; reddening or yellowing of the eyes; fire-like generalized heat effusion; shortness of breath; heart vexation; joy, sorrow, weeping, fright and fear; incessant laughing; scab (jiè), lichen (xiǎn), and other sores.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.3‒0.5 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 1‒3 cones; pole 5‒15 min.

Needle sensation: Localized numbness or swelling. Sometimes numbness may spread to the fingers.

Point groups: Stream (shù) (earth) and source point (yuán xué); one of the thirteen ghost points.
