Kidney vacuity scant menstruation

肾虚月经过少 〔腎虛月經過少〕shèn xū yuè jīng guò shǎo

Scant menstruation due to kidney vacuity arising when congenital insufficiency, early marriage, excessive childbirth, excessive breast feeding, or sexual intemperance leads to damage to kidney qì, essence-blood depletion, and insufficiency of blood in the thoroughfare (chōng) and controlling (rèn) vessels and the vessels of the uterus. The flow is scant, thin, and dull redand is accompanied by dizzy head and tinnitus, and aching lumbus and limp legs.

Medicinal therapy: Supplement the kidney and nourish the blood with Chinese Angelica and Rehmannia Beverage (当归地黄饮 dāng guī dì huáng yǐn) plus astragalus (Astragali Radix, 黄芪 huáng qí).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on KI, SP, LR, and back transport points. Select BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), BL-21 (Stomach Transport, 胃俞 wèi shù), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), KI-5 (Water Spring, 水泉 shuǐ quán), LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo). Needle with supplementation. For insufficiency of kidney qì, add CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), and GV-4 (Life Gate, 命门 mìng mén), and apply moxa.
