Disinhibiting water and percolating dampness

利水渗湿 〔利水滲濕〕lì shuǐ shèn shī

To eliminate dampness by freeing urination in the treatment of strangury-turbidity, water swelling, and diarrhea due to water-damp congesting in the lower burner. Disinhibiting water and percolating dampness makes use of sweet and bland water-disinhibiting medicinals such as poria (Poria, 茯苓 fú líng), alisma (Alismatis Rhizoma, 泽泻 zé xiè), and polyporus (Polyporus, 猪苓 zhū líng). Representative formulas include Poria Five Powder (五苓散 wǔ líng sǎn) and Five-Peel Powder (五皮散 wǔ pí sǎn).
