Properties: Bitter and acrid; cool.

Indications:

Clears heat and disinhibits urine, settles cough, disperses swelling, and resolves toxin.

jaundice; water swelling; stone or strangury-turbidity (lìn zhuó); cough; pulmonary welling-abscesses (fèi yōng); malarial disease; vaginal discharge; wind-damp impediment (fēng shī bì) pain; child gān accumulations; fright epilepsy (jīng xián); swollen welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng), sores and lichen (xiǎn); eczema.

Dosage & Method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g) or steep in wine.
