Yīn vacuity heat effusion

阴虚发热 〔陰虛發熱〕yīn xū fā rè

Heat effusion due to depletion of essence, blood, and fluids. Yīn vacuity heat effusion may take the form of postmeridian heat effusion (occurring sometime after midday), steaming bone heat effusion (appearing to emanate from the bones), or vexing heat in the five hearts (heat or sensation of heat the hearts of the palms and soles and the heart of the chest). Yīn vacuity heat effusion is associated with emaciation, night sweating, dry mouth, red tongue, and a rapid fine pulse. It is seen in a wide variety of enduring sicknesses.

Medicinal therapy: Enrich yīn and nourish the blood to abate the vacuity heat. Use Major Yīn Supplementation Pill (大补阴丸 dà bǔ yīn wán) or Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill (六味地黄丸 liù wèi dì huáng wán).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on KI, PC, and HT. Select KI-6 (Shining Sea, 照海 zhào hǎi), KI-2 (Blazing Valley, 然谷 rán gǔ), LU-10 (Fish Border, 鱼际 yú jì), HT-8 (Lesser Mansion, 少府 shào fǔ), PC-8 (Palace of Toil, 劳宫 láo gōng), KI-1 (Gushing Spring, 湧泉 yǒng quán), and HT-7 (Spirit Gate, 神门 shén mén); needle with even supplementation and drainage. For night sweating, add HT-6 (Yīn Cleft, 阴郄 yīn xī), SI-3 (Back Ravine, 后溪 hòu xī), and LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ);
