White vaginal discharge
白带 〔白帶〕bái dài
A discharge from the vagina of sticky white matter. White vaginal discharge is normal in some womenand may naturally increase before and after menstruation or during pregnancy. Only copious flow, especially when associated with abdominal pain or lumbar pain is viewed as pathological. White vaginal discharge is attributed to the girdling vessel failing to ensure retention, and insecurity of the controlling vessel resulting from spleen vacuity, liver depression and spleen vacuity, or damp-heat pouring downward.
Patterns
Spleen vacuity (脾虚 pí xū) When due to spleen vacuity, white vaginal discharge is copious and associated with lassitude of spirit, yellow complexion, cold limbs, and sloppy stool.
Medicinal therapy: Fortify the spleen and eliminate dampness. Use

Liver depression and spleen vacuity (肝郁脾虚 gān yù pí xū): White vaginal discharge in patients with liver depression is sometimes copious and sometimes scant. Other signs include mental problems, dizzy head, oppression in the chest, distension of the breasts.

Damp-heat pouring downward (湿热下注 gān yù pí xū): White vaginal discharge due to damp-heat pouring downward has a fishy malodor. Other signs include pudendal itch, dizzy head, and fatigue.
