GB-26 Girdling Vessel

带脉 〔帶脈〕 dài mài

Channel: GB, foot lesser yáng (shào yáng) gallbladder channel; shared point on the girdling (dài) vessel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the lateral aspect of the abdomen, straight below to the tip of the 11th rib (LR-13) at the level of the umbilicus.

Classical location: In the depression one cùn and eight fēn below the region of the free ribs, two cùn above the navel, seven and a half cùn either side of the midline. From The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (针灸大成 zhēn jiǔ dà chéng)

Local anatomy: The subcostal artery and vein. The subcostal nerve.

Action: Frees the channels and quickens the network vessels; clears and disinhibits damp-heat; regulates the menses and checks vaginal discharge.

Modern indications: Abdominal pain; amenorrhea; menstrual irregularities; vaginal discharge; mounting qì (shàn qì, inguinal hernia); lumbar and rib-side pain.

Classical indications: Smaller abdominal pain in women; intestinal mounting (shàn) pain; abdominal urgency; tugging and slackening.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.5‒1.0 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 5‒7 cones; pole 10‒30 min.

Point groups: Intersection point (jiāo huì xué) of the gallbladder channel and girdling vessel.
