Category: Astringing formulas / Flooding and vaginal discharge formulas
Method: Decoct with water.
Rationale: Bái zhú and Rén shēn boost qì and upbear yáng, to restore the spleen's function of upbearing the clear and stomach's function of downbearing the turbid. When earth-fried, Bái zhú fortifies the spleen and checks discharge. Shān yào is included because it not only fortifies the spleen to discharge, but also supplements spleen yīn which suffers damage from persistent vaginal discharge. Cāng zhú and Chén pí disinhibit qì, move the spleen, and dry dampness. Chē qián zǐ disinhibits dampness, making the damp turbidity pass out in urine. Chái hú and Bái sháo course the liver and resolve depression. Charred Jīng jiè suì astringes dampness and checks discharge, while Gān cǎo helps to fortify the spleen.
