BL-30 White Ring Transport

白环俞 〔白環俞〕 bái huán shù

Alternate names: 玉房俞 yù fáng shù, Jade House Transport; 玉环俞 yù huán shù, Jade Ring Transport

Channel: BL, foot greater yáng (tài yáng) bladder channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the sacrum, level with the fourth sacral foramen, 1.5 cùn lateral to the midline.

Classical location: One cùn and five fēn either side of the spine, below the twenty-first vertebra. The point is found in prostrate posture. From The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (针灸大成 zhēn jiǔ dà chéng)

Local anatomy: The inferior gluteal artery and vein; deeper, the internal pudendal artery and vein. Lateral branches of the posterior rami of the 3rd and 4th sacral nerves, the inferior gluteal nerve.

Action: Warms yáng and regulates the menses; courses the channels and rectifies the lower burner.

Modern indications: Enuresis; mounting qì (shàn qì, inguinal hernia); seminal emission; menstrual irregularities; vaginal discharge; pain in the sacrum.

Classical indications: Inhibited urination and defecation; vacuity heat block.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.7‒1.0 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: pole 5‒10 min.
