Uterine cold infertility

胞寒不孕 〔胞寒不孕〕bāo hán bù yùn

Inability to bear children due to kidney yáng vacuity or wind-cold. Uterine cold infertility is usually associated with smaller abdominal cold, physical cold and cold limbs, and delayed menstruation.

Patterns

Insufficiency of kidney yáng (肾阳不足 shèn yáng bù zú) leads to infertility when it allows cold to arise internally and deprive the uterus of warmth.

Medicinal therapy: Treat insufficiency of kidney yáng by warming the kidney and invigorating yáng with Cinnamon Bark and Aconite Eight-Ingredient Pill (桂附八味丸 guì fù bā wèi wán).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment on back transport points, GV, CV, KI, and ST. Select BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), GV-4 (Life Gate, 命门 mìng mén), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), CV-3 (Central Pole, 中极 zhōng jí), CV-7 (Yīn Intersection, 阴交 yīn jiāo), CV-2 (Curved Bone, 曲骨 qū gǔ), ST-29 (Return, 归来 guī lái), and KI-6 (Shining Sea, 照海 zhào hǎi); needle with supplementation and large amounts of moxa.

Wind-cold (风寒 fēng hán) can cause infertility when poor attention to health during menstruation allows wind-cold to settle in the uterus and prevent normal reception of essence (conception).

Medicinal therapy: Treat by warming the channels and assisting yáng, warming the uterus and dispelling cold with Mugwort and Cyperus Palace-Warming Pill (艾附暖宫丸 ài fù nuǎn gōng wán).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment on GB, GV, CV, ST, and KI. Needle with drainage and moxa at GB-20 (Wind Pool, 风池 fēng chí), GV-20 (Hundred Convergences, 百会 bǎi huì), TB-5 (Outer Pass, 外关 wài guān), and LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), and with supplementation and large amounts of moxa at GV-4 (Life Gate, 命门 mìng mén), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), CV-3 (Central Pole, 中极 zhōng jí), ST-29 (Return, 归来 guī lái), CV-7 (Yīn Intersection, 阴交 yīn jiāo), and KI-6 (Shining Sea, 照海 zhào hǎi).
