ST-29 Return

归来 〔歸來〕guī lái

Alternate names: 溪谷 xī gǔ, Ravine Valley; 溪穴 xī xué, Ravine Hole

Channel: ST, Foot Yáng Brightness (yáng míng) Stomach Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the smaller abdomen, 4 cùn inferior to the umbilicus and 2 cùn lateral to the midline.

Classic location: Two cùn below Waterway (ST-28), two cùn either side of the midline. (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)

Local anatomy: Laterally, the inferior epigastric artery and vein. The iliohypogastric nerve.

Action: Rectifies the lower burner; warms the uterus.

Modern indications: Abdominal pain; mounting qì (shàn qì, inguinal hernia); menstrual irregularities; vaginal discharge; yīn protrusion (prolapse of the uterus).

Classic indications: Running piglet (bēn tún); the seven mountings (qī shàn); retracted testicles; cold, swelling and pain of the genitals; vaginal discharge; accumulated cold of the blood viscus (uterus); impotence.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.5‒1.2 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 7‒15 cones; pole 10‒20 min.
