CV-7 Yīn Intersection
阴交 〔陰交〕yīn jiāo
Alternate names: 丹田 dān tián, Cinnabar Field; 横户 héng hù, Horizontal Door; 少关 shào guān, Scarce Pass; 小关 xiǎo guān, Small Pass
Channel: CV, Controlling (rèn) Vessel
Modern location: An acupoint located on the smaller abdomen, 1 cùn inferior to the umbilicus on the midline.
Classic location: One cùn below the umbilicus, even with the upper border of the bladder. (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)
Local anatomy: The branches of the superficial epigastric and inferior epigastric arteries and veins. The anterior cutaneous branch of the tenth intercostal nerve.
Action: Warms and supplements kidney yáng; regulates the menses and the blood.
Modern indications: Abdominal pain; water swelling; mounting qì (shàn qì, inguinal hernia); menstrual irregularities; vaginal discharge.
Classic indications: Running piglet (bēn tún); vacuity desertion; fecal stoppage and urinary stoppage; water swelling; nosebleed; postpartum nonclosure of the birth gate;
Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.8‒1.2 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 5 cones; pole 20‒30 min.
Needle sensation: Distension and numbness following the course of the controlling vessel downward to the external genitalia or extending laterally.
Point groups: Intersection point (jiāo huì xué) of the conception and thoroughfare vessels.
