Center dispersion

中消 〔中消〕zhōng xiāo

Also spleen dispersion; stomach dispersion; heart dispersion. A dispersion-thirst pattern characterized by thirst, increased eating and rapid hungering, emaciation, frequent urination, and hard stool, and attributed to spleen-stomach dryness-heat.

Medicinal therapy: Treat by clearing heat and draining fire complemented by enriching yīn and moistening dryness. Use White Tiger Decoction (白虎汤 bái hǔ tāng), Firewood-Raking Beverage (抽薪饮 chōu xīn yǐn), or Stomach-Regulating Qì-Coordinating Decoction (调胃承气汤 tiáo wèi chéng qì tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, ST, and SP. Select CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), SP-2 (Great Metropolis, 大都 dà dū), ST-43 (Sunken Valley, 陷谷 xiàn gǔ), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), and KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī); needle with drainage.
