Source: Shāng Hán Lùn 伤寒论

Ingredients:

• Dà huáng (大黄 Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, rhubarb) 12g
• Máng xiāo (芒硝 Natrii Sulfas , mirabilite) 9–12g
• Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 6g

Action: Drains heat and abducts dampness.

Indication: Yáng brightness bowel repletion patterns with tidal heat effusion, thirst, abdominal pain exacerbated by pressure, and constipation. Tongue fur: Yellow. Pulse: Slippery and rapid. Can also be used for food damage constipation in children, or for painful swelling of the gums and fetid mouth odor.
