Yīn collapse

Also yīn desertion; fulminant desertion of yīn humor. A critical pattern of wearing of yīn-blood. The chief signs are copious sweat, palpably hot skin, and warm limbs or reversal cold of the limbs with heat in the hearts of the palms and soles. There is agitation or, in severe cases, clouded spirit. There is thirst with desire for cool fluids. Breathing is short and hasty with difficulty catching the breath. The tongue is dry and red, whereas the pulse is weak and rapid.

Medicinal therapy: Enrich yīn and increase humor; nourish liquid and secure qì. Use large quantities of Pulse-Engendering Powder (生脉散 shēng mài sǎn). Cornus (Corni Fructus, 山茱萸 shān zhū yú), scutellaria (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩 huáng qín), calcined dragon bone (Mastodi Ossis Fossilia Calcinata, 煅龙骨 duàn lóng gǔ), and calcined oyster shell (Ostreae Concha Calcinata, 煅牡蛎 duàn mǔ lì) can also be used.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV and GV. Select GV-26 (Water Trough, 水沟 shuǐ gōu), GV-25 (White Bone-Hole, 素髎 sù liáo), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), GV-20 (Hundred Convergences, 百会 bǎi huì), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), and KI-1 (Gushing Spring, 湧泉 yǒng quán); needle with supplementation or direct moxa. Apply moxa on salt or ginger at CV-8 (Spirit Gate Tower, 神阙 shén què).
