Wind-heat headache

风热头痛 〔風熱頭痛〕fēng rè tóu tòng

Headache due to wind-heat harassing the upper body. Wind-heat headache is usually associated with distension in the head, aversion to cold, and heat effusionand may be attended by such signs as nasal congestion and runny nose, toothache, red sore swollen eyes, thirst with intake of fluid, or constipation and reddish urine. The tongue fur is thin and yellow, whereas the pulse is floating.

Medicinal therapy: Course wind and clear heat using formulas such as Clear Sky Paste (清空膏 qīng kōng gāo) or Mulberry Leaf and Chrysanthemum Beverage (桑菊饮 sāng jú yǐn).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on the three yáng channels and GV. Select GB-20 (Wind Pool, 风池 fēng chí), GV-20 (Hundred Convergences, 百会 bǎi huì), Greater yáng (tài yáng) (太阳 tài yáng), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), LU-7 (Broken Sequence, 列缺 liè quē), SI-3 (Back Ravine, 后溪 hòu xī), GV-14 (Great Hammer, 大椎 dà zhuī), and LI-11 (Pool at the Bend, 曲池 qū chí), and needle with drainage.
