Wind damage cough

伤风咳嗽 〔傷風咳嗽〕shāng fēng ké sòu

Also wind cough. Cough due to wind evil damaging the lung. Wind damage cough is accompanied by aversion to cold and spontaneous sweating or aversion to cold with heat effusion, nasal congestion and runny nose, heavy voice, itchy throat, and a floating pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Course wind, diffuse the lung, transform phlegm, and relieve cough. Use formulas such as Cough-Stopping Powder (止嗽散 zhǐ sòu sǎn), Rough and Ready Three Decoction (三拗汤 sān ào tāng) and Inula Powder (金沸草散 jīn fèi cǎo sǎn).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on LU, LI, and GB. Select BL-13 (Lung Transport, 肺俞 fèi shù), LU-7 (Broken Sequence, 列缺 liè quē), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), GB-20 (Wind Pool, 风池 fēng chí), BL-12 (Wind Gate, 风门 fēng mén), CV-22 (Celestial Chimney, 天突 tiān tú), and ST-40 (Bountiful Bulge, 丰隆 fēng lóng); needle with drainage and moxa.
