Warming heart yáng

温心阳 〔溫心陽〕 wēn xīn yáng

A method of treatment used to address heart yáng vacuity characterized by lassitude of spirit, dizziness, heart palpitation or fearful throbbing, and pronounced cold signs, such as gray or green-blue or purple complexion and reversal cold of the limbs.

Medicinal therapy: Formulas that warm heart yáng include Cinnamon Twig, Licorice, Dragon Bone, and Oyster Shell Decoction (桂枝甘草龙骨牡蛎汤 guì zhī gān cǎo lóng gǔ mǔ lì tāng) to which ginseng (Ginseng Radix, 人参 rén shēn) and aconite (Aconiti Radix Lateralis Praeparata, 附子 fù zǐ) can be added in severe cases.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on back transport points, CV, and HT. Select BL-15 (Heart Transport, 心俞 xīn shù), CV-14 (Great Tower Gate, 巨阙 jù què), CV-17 (Chest Center, 膻中 shān zhōng), and HT-7 (Spirit Gate, 神门 shén mén); needle with supplementation and add moxa.
