True origin vacuity panting

真元耗损喘 〔真元耗損喘〕zhēn yuán hào sǔn chuǎn

Panting due to a vacuous kidney failing to absorb qì. True origin vacuity panting usually develops from enduring panting and cough or as a result major illness. It is characterized by hasty panting with shortness of breath, with more exhalation than inhalationand is accompanied by a tendency to sweat easily on exertion, thin body and lassitude of spirit, and in pronounced cases blue-green or purple lips and nails, heart palpitation, swelling of the limbs, rapid fine sunken pulse. In severe cases, critical signs such as counterflow cold of the limbs, red face, vexation and agitation, and discontinuity of breathing may be observed.

Medicinal therapy: True origin vacuity panting is treat by warming yáng and banking up the origin, supplementing the kidney and promoting qì absorption. Use formulas such as Cinnamon Bark and Aconite Eight-Ingredient Pill (桂附八味丸 guì fù bā wèi wán), Metropolis Qì Pill (都气丸 dū qì wán), Ginseng and Gecko Powder (人参蛤蚧散 rén shēn gé jiè sǎn), or Galenite Elixir (黑锡丹 hēi xí dān).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on back transport points, CV, GV, KI and LU. Select BL-13 (Lung Transport, 肺俞 fèi shù), Panting Stabilizer (定喘 dìng chuǎn), BL-43 (Gāo-Huāng Transport, 膏肓俞 gāo huāng shù), BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), GV-4 (Life Gate, 命门 mìng mén), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), LU-9 (Great Abyss, 太渊 tài yuān), and ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ); needle with supplementation and large amounts of moxa.
