M-BW-1 Panting Stabilizer

定喘 〔定喘〕 dìng chuǎn

Channel: Nonchannel point

Modern location: An acupoint located on the upper back, 1 cùn lateral to the inferior border of the spinous process of the seventh cervical vertebra (GV-14).

Local anatomy: The transverse and deep cervical arteries and veins. The cutaneous branch of the dorsal ramus of the 7th cervical nerve; deeper, the medial branch of the dorsal ramus of the 8th cervical nerve.

Modern indications: Cough, asthma; bronchitis; urticaria, pain in the shoulder and back.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.5‒1.0 cùn inward oblique insertion. Moxa: 3‒5 cones; pole 10‒20 min.

Needle sensation: Localized aching and distension, sometimes extending laterally to the shoulder or forward to the chest.
