Infertility attributed to liver qì depression. Liver depression infertility is associated with painful distension of the breasts during menstruation, irregular cycle, clots in the menstrual flow, affect-mind depression or impatience, agitation, and irascibility, distension and fullness in the chest and rib-side, a dark red tongue, and a stringlike pulse.
Medicinal therapy: Use Depression-Opening Jade-Planting Decoction (开郁种玉汤kāi yù zhòng yù tāng) or Liver-Coursing Depression-Resolving Decoction (疏肝解郁汤shū gān jiě yù tāng).
Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment on back transport points, LR, CV, and SP. Select BL-18 (Liver Transport, 肝俞 gān shù), LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), Qì Gate (气门qì mén)LR-2 (Moving Between, 行间 xíng jiān), CV-3 (Central Pole, 中极 zhōng jí), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), SP-10 (Sea of Blood, 血海 xuè hǎi), SP-4 (Yellow Emperor, 公孙 gōng sūn), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo); needle with drainage. Qi Gate (气门qì mén) is three cùn below the umbilicus and three cùn to the side. It is noted for its ability to treat infertility.
