Leg qì surging into the heart

脚气冲心 〔腳氣衝心〕jiǎo qì chōng xīn

Also leg qì attacking the heart; leg qì entering the heart. Leg qì manifesting in heart palpitation, panting, nausea and vomiting, and, in severe cases, by abstraction and deranged speech. Leg qì surging into the heart is attributed to evil toxin ascending to attack the heart and chest.

Medicinal therapy: When attributable to damp toxin attacking upward damaging yáng, treat by warming yáng and dispersing cold and by expelling dampness and discharging toxin with Evodia Decoction (吴茱萸汤 wú zhū yú tāng) plus pinellia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 半夏 bàn xià), aconite (Aconiti Radix Lateralis Praeparata, 附子 fù zǐ), asarum (Asari Rhizoma et Radix, 细辛 xì xīn), dried ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma, 干姜 gān jiāng), shaved cinnamon bark (Cinnamomi Cortex Rasus, 桂心 guì xīn), and licorice (Glycyrrhizae Radix, 甘草 gān cǎo). When attributable to damp-fire attacking upward, treat by diffusing congestion and expelling dampness and by cooling the blood and clearing fire with Evodia Decoction (吴茱萸汤 wú zhū yú tāng) combined with Bovine Bezoar Heart-Clearing Pill (牛黄清心丸 niú huáng qīng xīn wán).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment on SP, ST, and PC. Select PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), CV-14 (Great Tower Gate, 巨阙 jù què), PC-8 (Palace of Toil, 劳宫 láo gōng), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), KI-1 (Gushing Spring, 湧泉 yǒng quán), and LU-5 (Cubit Marsh, 尺泽 chǐ zé); needle with drainage.

Point selection according to signs: For heart palpitation, add PC-4 (Cleft Gate, 郄门 xī mén). For panting, add CV-17 (Chest Center, 膻中 shān zhōng) and Panting Stabilizer (定喘 dìng chuǎn). For vomiting, add CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn). For clouded spirit, add GV-26 (Water Trough, 水沟 shuǐ gōu). For vacuity desertion, moxa CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi) and CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán).
