Heat cholera

热霍乱 〔熱霍亂〕rè huò luàn

Also heat qì cholera. Cholera arising when obstruction of center burner after internal damage by rich food or external contraction of summerheat-heat or damp-heat. In addition to the principal signs of cholera (simultaneous vomiting and diarrhea), there is gripping pain in the abdomen, hot malodorous stool, oppression in the chest, heart vexation, heat effusion, thirst, yellow or reddish urine, a yellow slimy tongue fur, and a rapid surging or rapid sunken pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Clear heat and transform dampness; repel foulness and drain turbidity. Use Coptis and Officinal Magnolia Bark Beverage (连朴饮 lián pò yǐn) or Coptis and Mosla Powder (黄连香薷散 huáng lián xiāng rú sǎn).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on LI, ST, SP, and PC. Select LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), ST-37 (Upper Great Hollow, 上巨虚 shàng jù xū), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), LI-11 (Pool at the Bend, 曲池 qū chí), ST-44 (Inner Court, 内庭 nèi tíng), SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), and PC-7 (Great Mound, 大陵 dà líng); needle with drainage.
