A method of treatment used to address provisioning-defense disharmony characterized by heat effusion, sweating, aversion to cold, noise in the nose, dry retching, and a weak floating pulse.

Medicinal therapy: The major formula for harmonizing provisioning-defense disharmony is Cinnamon Twig Decoction (桂枝汤 guì zhī tāng), in which cinnamon twig (Cinnamomi Ramulus, 桂枝 guì zhī) resolves the flesh and dispels wind, whereas peony (Paeoniae Radix, 芍药 sháo yào) constrains yīn, thereby bringing provisioning into harmony.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on GB, BL, SI, and ST. Needle with drainage at GB-20 (Wind Pool, 风池 fēng chí), GV-16 (Wind Mansion, 风府 fēng fǔ), GV-14 (Great Hammer, 大椎 dà zhuī), and BL-64 (Capital Bone, 京骨 jīng gǔ); needle with even supplementation and drainage at BL-62 (Extending Vessel, 申脉 shēn mài), SI-3 (Back Ravine, 后溪 hòu xī), and ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ).
