BL-64 Capital Bone

京骨 〔京骨〕jīng gǔ

Alternate names: 大骨 dà gǔ, Large Bone; 足太阳所过 zú tài yáng suǒ guò,

Channel: BL, Foot Greater Yáng (tài yáng) Bladder Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the lateral aspect of the foot, inferior to the tuberosity of the fifth metatarsal bone, at the border of the red and white flesh.

Classic location: On the outer side of the foot, below the large bone, in the depression at the border of the red and white flesh. (Zhēn Jiǔ Jiǎ Yǐ Jīng)

Local anatomy: See BL-63.

Action: Frees the channels and quickens the network vessels; quiets the heart and spirit; disperses wind and clears heat.

Modern indications: Headache; stiff nape; eye screens; epilepsy; lumbar pain.

Classic indications: Sniveling and nosebleed; eye screens; diarrhea; abdominal fullness; mania and withdrawal; heat effusion with aversion to cold; malarial disease; heart palpitation; splitting headache.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.3‒0.5 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 3‒7 cones; pole 5‒20 min.

Point groups: Source point (yuán xué).
