Gallbladder distension

胆胀 〔膽脹〕 dǎn zhàng

1. Pain and distension below the rib-side, with bitter taste in the mouth, and sighing. Gallbladder distension is usually the result of cold evil affecting the gallbladder.

Medicinal therapy: Use medicinals such as bupleurum (Bupleuri Radix, 柴胡 chái hú), curcuma (Curcumae Radix, 郁金 yù jīn), tangerine peel (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 陈皮 chén pí), Chinese angelica (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 当归 dāng guī), poria (Poria, 茯苓 fú líng), gardenia husk (Gardeniae Epicarpium, 山栀皮 shān zhī pí), tribulus (Tribuli Fructus, 刺蒺藜 cì jí lí), bitter orange (Aurantii Fructus, 枳壳 zhǐ ké), and silk tree flower (Albizziae Flos, 合欢花 hé huān huā).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on back transport points, LR, GB, TB, PC, and SP. Select BL-19 (Gallbladder Transport, 胆俞 dǎn shù) BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù) TB-6 (Branch Ditch, 支沟 zhī gōu), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), LR-14 (Cycle Gate, 期门 qī mén), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), and GB-34 (Yáng Mound Spring, 阳陵泉 yáng líng quán). Needle with even supplementation and drainage, adding moxa.

2. A distension pattern with the above-mentioned signs.

Medicinal therapy: Add gallbladder channel medicinals such as bupleurum (Bupleuri Radix, 柴胡 chái hú), unripe tangerine peel (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 青皮 qīng pí), and forsythia (Forsythiae Fructus, 连翘 lián qiào) to the formula that addresses the main distension pattern.

Acumoxatherapy: Add to the above points ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), and ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), needling with drainage and adding moxa.
