Falling curtain screen

垂帘翳 〔垂簾翳〕chuí lián yì

A disease characterized by fine thread-like vessels on the upper margin of the dark of the eye that appear to fall like a curtain over the eye and that in severe cases cover the pupil. Falling curtain screen is associated with tearing and aversion to light, dryness and pain, and obstructed vision.

Biomedical correspondence: trachomatous corneal pannus.

Medicinal therapy: Course wind and clear heat; calm the liver and abate screens. Use Abalone Shell Powder (石决明散 shí jué míng sǎn) as oral medication and Spirifer Fossil Elixir (石燕丹 shí yàn dān) applied topically.

Acumoxatherapy: Select BL-2 (Bamboo Gathering, 攒竹 zǎn zhú), BL-1 (Bright Eyes, 睛明 jīng míng), GB-1 (Pupil Bone-Hole, 瞳子髎 tóng zǐ liáo), GB-20 (Wind Pool, 风池 fēng chí), GB-41 (Foot Overlooking Tears, 足临泣 zú lín qì), Thumb Bone Hollow (大骨空 dà gǔ kōng), Little Finger Bone Hollow (小骨空 xiǎo gǔ kōng), BL-18 (Liver Transport, 肝俞 gān shù), and BL-19 (Gallbladder Transport, 胆俞 dǎn shù); needle with drainage.
