Enriching yīn and clearing heat

A method of treatment used to address yīn vacuity with effulgent fire characterized by steaming bones, tidal heat, and night sweating.

Medicinal therapy: Yīn-enriching heat-clearing formulas include Large Gentian and Turtle Shell Powder (秦艽鳖甲散 qín jiāo biē jiǎ sǎn) and Chinese Angelica Six Yellows Decoction (当归六黄汤 dāng guī liù huáng tāng). This method differs from that of clearing vacuity heat by a greater emphasis on enriching yīn.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on KI. Select SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), KI-6 (Shining Sea, 照海 zhào hǎi), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), KI-2 (Blazing Valley, 然谷 rán gǔ), and LR-2 (Moving Between, 行间 xíng jiān). Needle with even supplementation and drainage or with supplementation. For tidal heat, add LU-5 (Cubit Marsh, 尺泽 chǐ zé) and LU-10 (Fish Border, 鱼际 yú jì). For night sweating, add HT-6 (Yīn Cleft, 阴郄 yīn xī).
