GB-35 Yáng Intersection
阳交 〔陽交〕yáng jiāo
Alternate names: 别阳 bié yáng, Divergent Yang; 足空 zú kōng, Leg Hollow; 足髎 zú liáo, Leg Bone-Hole; 足窌 zú liáo, Leg Bone-Hole
Channel: GB, Foot Lesser Yáng (shào yáng) Gallbladder Channel
Modern location: An acupoint located on the lateral aspect of the lower leg, 7 cùn superior to the tip of the lateral malleolus, on the posterior edge of the peroneus longus muscle in the groove between the peroneus and the soleus muscles.
Classic location: Seven cùn above the outer ankle, in the parting of the flesh among the three yáng channels. (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)
Local anatomy: The branches of the peroneal artery and vein. The lateral sural cutaneous nerve.
Action: Disinhibits the gallbladder and quiets the spirit; soothes the sinews, quickens the blood and relieves pain.
Modern indications: Distension and fullness in the chest and rib-side; wilting-impediment (wěi bì) of the lower limbs; mania and withdrawal.
Classic indications: Heat effusion and aversion to cold; panting; throat impediment (hóu bì); cold reversal; fright mania; leg qì (jiǎo qì,
Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.5‒0.8 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 5‒7 cones; pole 5‒15 min.
Point groups: Cleft point (xī xué) of the yáng linking vessel (yáng wéi mài).
