Six Gentlemen Decoction

六君子汤 〔六君子湯〕 liù jūn zǐ tāng

Alternate Chinese names: Jiàn pí huà tán tāng (健脾化痰汤 Spleen-Fortifying Phlegm-Transforming Decoction)

Ingredients

Actions: Boosts qì and fortifies the spleen; harmonizes the stomach and transforms phlegm.

Indications: Spleen-stomach qì vacuity with no thought of food and drink, qì distension in the stomach duct and abdomen, vomiting and retching, acid swallowing, thin sloppy stool, dizziness, heart palpitation, or cough with copious phlegm.

Method: Decoct with water.

Notes: This is Sì jūn zǐ tāng (四君子汤 Four Gentlemen Decoction) with the addition of Chén pí and Bàn xià.
