Acid swallowing
吞酸 〔吞酸〕tūn suān
The welling up of acid fluid that is swallowed before it can be spat out. acid swallowing occurs in liver qì invading the stomach and is associated with either heat or cold signs: in heat patterns, accompanying signs include vexation, dry throat, bitter taste in the mouth, and yellow tongue fur; in cold patterns, signs include dull pain in the chest and stomach duct, ejection of clear drool, and a pale tongue with white fur.
