Qì distension

气胀 〔氣脹〕qì zhàng

1. Distension arising from congestion of the pathways of qì as a result of affect-mind binding depression and characterized by abdominal fullness and distension, emaciated limbs, and reduced food intake.

Medicinal therapy: Course the liver and rectify qì. Use Bupleurum Liver-Coursing Powder (柴胡疏肝散 chái hú shū gān sǎn) plus barley sprout (Hordei Fructus Germinatus, 麦芽 mài yá).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on ST, SP, LR, and back transport points. Select ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), BL-18 (Liver Transport, 肝俞 gān shù), LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), and KI-13 (Qì Point, 气穴 qì xué); needle with drainage.

2. Also drum distension. Abdominal distension and fullness that is empty.
