Damp phlegm wilting

湿痰痿 〔濕痰痿〕shī tán wěi

A wilting (wěi) pattern usually affecting overweight people, attributed to damp phlegm lodged in the channel, and characterized by wilting and weakness of the limbs, numbness of the lumbus and knee, and pulse that is sunken and slippery.

Medicinal therapy: Use Two Matured Ingredients Decoction (二陈汤 èr chén tāng) with judicious addition of atractylodes (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 苍朮 cāng zhú), white atractylodes (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 白朮 bái zhú), scutellaria (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩 huáng qín), phellodendron (Phellodendri Cortex, 黄柏 huáng bǎi), bamboo sap (Bambusae Succus, 竹沥 zhú lì), and ginger juice (Zingiberis Rhizomatis Succus, 姜汁 jiāng zhī).

Acumoxatherapy: Use the general points given under wilting, and add ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), and ST-40 (Bountiful Bulge, 丰隆 fēng lóng), needling with drainage.
