Malaria occurring either when malaria evils are contracted in constitutional weakness or enduring malaria depletes original qì. Vacuity malaria is characterized by unpronounced heat effusion and aversion to cold, lack of strength in the extremities, reduced food intake, persistent spontaneous sweating, and a soft vacuous pulse.
Medicinal therapy: Nourish right and supplement vacuity with formulas such as Six Gentlemen Decoction (六君子汤liù jūn zǐ tāng), Center-Supplementing Qì-Boosting Decoction (补中益气汤bǔ zhōng yì qì tāng), or Flowery Knotweed and Ginseng Beverage (何人饮hé rén yǐn).
Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on GV, PC, SI, ST, and KI. Select GV-14 (Great Hammer, 大椎 dà zhuī), GV-13 (Kiln Path, 陶道 táo dào), PC-5 (Intermediary Courier, 间使 jiān shǐ), SI-3 (Back Ravine, 后溪 hòu xī), CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), and KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī).
